Alaska's cemeteries are few, far apart and often reached by a long drive or a flight: Anchorage Memorial Park, Fairbanks, Juneau, Sitka's small national cemetery, and Fort Richardson National Cemetery on the base north of Anchorage. Most families with a grave here live in the Lower 48 now, which is exactly the distance BloomBridge was built for.

National cemeteries in Alaska

Fresh flowers are welcome at a national cemetery any day of the year. Silk arrangements are placed in the permitted windows: the winter months and about ten days either side of Easter, Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Your Runner follows each cemetery's posted dates.

Spring (May)

Break-up comes in May. Cemeteries clear winter decorations and open vases once the ground thaws; deliveries placed after that stay through summer.

Summer (June to August)

Long days and mild sun. The easiest season at the grave; silk holds its color well.

Fall (September to October)

Short. Harvest colors go in early; cemeteries clear before freeze-up in October.

Winter (November to April)

Deep snow. A saddle on an upright stone or an evergreen arrangement against it stays visible; vases are stored until spring. Runners deliver when roads and cemeteries are open.

Can you place silk flowers at Fort Richardson National Cemetery?
