Flower rules at South Florida National Cemetery

  • We welcome fresh-cut flowers throughout the year and provide flower containers for gravesite displays as a courtesy.
  • They may also be removed for routine mowing or other maintenance.
  • Artificial flowers and potted plants, not in glass or ceramics, are allowed in the Columbarium Complex and are disposed of by cemetery staff on the last Thursday and Friday of each month.
  • Artificial flowers and potted plants, not in glass or ceramics, are allowed on sodded areas five days before and five days after Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Mother's and Father's Day, and Yom Kippur.
  • Note: Artificial flowers are not allowed on sodded gravesites, and glass and ceramics are not allowed anywhere on cemetery grounds due to the damage they can cause to mowers and other equipment.
  • Seasonal Holiday Adornments for Christmas and Hanukkah, such as wreaths, potted poinsettias, and other seasonal items (no glass or ceramics), may be placed on graves from December 1 through January 20.
  • To maintain the dignity of the cemetery, permanent plants, statues, balloons, pinwheels, vigil lights, breakable objects, and similar items are not permitted on the graves.
  • The release of balloons is prohibited at South Florida National Cemetery.

From the cemetery's posted Floral and Grounds Policy (Department of Veterans Affairs). BloomBridge arrangements are silk, which these rules count as artificial flowers, so pick a delivery date inside the cemetery's window. Your Runner follows the posted rules.
