Spring (March to May)

The spring clean-up lands in March at most cemeteries. Easter and Mother's Day deliveries placed after it stay for months. Pollen coats everything for a few weeks; a rinse restores a silk arrangement.

Summer (June to September)

The hardest season. Fresh flowers last a day; silk in yellows, whites and blues fades slowest in the sun. Weekly mowing means flowers belong in the vase or on the stone, never on the grass. Hurricane season can close coastal cemeteries for a few days.

Fall (October to November)

The best months at the grave. Mums and harvest colors for Thanksgiving; many cemeteries clear summer decorations in October, so deliver after.

Winter (December to February)

Mild and wet. Holiday arrangements placed in early December hold through New Year; national cemeteries are inside their silk window all winter.

How long do the flowers last in Mississippi?

A silk arrangement placed in June is still in place and in color in September, which fresh flowers cannot do in this heat. Lighter colors fade slowest in full sun.
