Desert sun is the main thing at a grave here: it fades color faster than anywhere else in the country. Every arrangement is hand-crafted in UV-resistant outdoor silk, and lighter colors last longest. Fort Bayard National Cemetery

Artificial flowers and potted plants will be allowed on graves for a period extending 10 days before through 10 days after Easter Sunday and Memorial Day.

Santa Fe National Cemetery

Santa Fe, NM

Artificial flowers may be placed on graves only during the period from November 1 to April 1.

Spring (February to April)

The best season at the grave: mild, bright and busy with Easter and Mother's Day visits. Cemeteries do their main clean-up around March.

Summer (May to September)

Extreme heat and sun. Fresh flowers last hours; silk in whites, yellows and blues fades slowest. Runners deliver early in the day.

Fall (October to November)

Temperatures ease and cemeteries fill again. Mums and harvest colors for Thanksgiving hold well in the dry air.

Winter (December to January)

Mild and sunny. Holiday arrangements last well into the new year; national cemeteries are inside their silk window.

Can you place silk flowers at Fort Bayard National Cemetery?

In the permitted windows: roughly mid-October through mid-April and about ten days either side of Easter, Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Fresh flowers are welcome any day. Your Runner follows the posted dates.

How long do the flowers last in New Mexico?

UV-resistant silk in lighter colors holds for months even in desert sun. Fresh flowers last hours in summer.

Will I know the flowers were placed?

A photo of the arrangement at the headstone is emailed to you after every delivery and added to the memorial page for the family.
