Virginia has Arlington National Cemetery and eighteen more national cemeteries, more than any other state, from Quantico and Culpeper to Hampton, Richmond and the Civil War grounds of the Shenandoah. Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, Blandford in Petersburg and the church graveyards of Tidewater hold the rest.

Four real seasons, with snow most winters and hot, humid summers. Every arrangement is hand-crafted in outdoor silk so it survives both. The Virginia cemetery calendar

What holds up, and when the grounds crews clear, in this climate.

Spring (March to May)

The spring clean-up comes in late March or April. Easter and Mother's Day deliveries placed after it stay through summer.

Summer (June to September)

Hot and humid, with weekly mowing. Flowers belong in the vase or on the stone; lighter silk colors fade slowest.

Fall (October to November)

Mums and harvest colors for Thanksgiving. Many cemeteries clear in November before leaf removal; deliver after.

Winter (December to February)

Snow and freeze-thaw. Turning vases are stored upside down; a saddle or a staked arrangement against the stone stays above the snow. Silk does not mind the cold.

Do you deliver to any cemetery in Virginia?

Yes. City, county, church, private memorial parks and the veterans cemeteries. Give us the cemetery name and the name on the headstone; a Find a Grave link helps the Runner find the grave.

Can you place silk flowers at Alexandria National Cemetery?

In the permitted windows: roughly mid-October through mid-April and about ten days either side of Easter, Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Fresh flowers are welcome any day. Your Runner follows the posted dates.

How long do the flowers last in Virginia?

A silk arrangement lasts a season or more, through summer sun and winter freeze. Fresh flowers last days.

Will I know the flowers were placed?

A photo of the arrangement at the headstone is emailed to you after every delivery and added to the memorial page for the family.
